Early Stages classes give children the opportunity to make new friends and have fun exploring each of the three musical theatre disciplines of singing, dancing and drama, as well as learning key life skills along the way.

(6 – 18 year-olds)

Main Stages classes are split in three age-appropriate groups, where children develop skills in the three musical theatre disciplines of singing, dancing and drama. These confidence-boosting classes see children build key life skills we call Creative Courage for Life®.

Further Stages

(15+ year-olds)

Our Further Stages give older students the chance to extend their performance skills. Through in-depth training, we help students to hone their skills in singing, dancing and acting. We also give students the confidence to audition for theatre and vocational drama schools (if that is their goal) and make sure they are well prepared for interviews and auditions.

Catherine Hymers Principal

Meet the team

Meet our Principal

With over 20 years in entertainment, Catherine began her career as a Butlins Redcoat before performing and managing shows with Princess Cruises. She’s worked at major venues including The Sage Gateshead and Customs House. With a postgraduate in Event & Venue Management and experience leading large teams, she brings creativity, care, and passion to Stagecoach. Catherine loves helping children grow in confidence through the performing arts.

The Teachers

  • Alexandra Brown

    Manager – Drama, Dance, Early Stages

    Alex attended Stagecoach from age 3 to 17 before becoming an Early Stages teacher…. She holds a BSc in Sport & Exercise Development, a PGCE, and an MA in Education. Now a lecturer in teacher training at the University of Sunderland, she continues to teach Dance, Drama, and PE in schools, choreograph for local shows, and assist at a competitive dance school. Alex loves bringing her energy and passion for the arts to Stagecoach every weekend.

  • Kimiya Rabet

    Manager – Early Stages – BA Hons Education and Childhood Studies

    Kim began Stagecoach at age 4 and later returned as a teacher and manager…. She holds a BA (Hons) in Education and Childhood Studies and a Postgraduate in Primary Education from Newcastle University. Kim has taught Early Stages in Cambridge, Cambourne, and across the North East. A qualified primary teacher, she blends her love for Performing Arts and education to deliver fun, engaging classes that inspire the next generation.

  • Grace Davidson

    Singing

    Grace is an actress and musician from South Shields. She holds a BA (Hons)… in Musical Theatre from Newcastle College and further trained at Arts Educational School in London. Her performance credits include Lead Vocalist for Royal Caribbean, Princess Jasmine in Aladdin (UK tour), and Snow White in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House. Grace brings industry experience and energy to her teaching at Stagecoach.

  • Sally Forster

    Singing

    Sally holds a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre and began her teaching career at… Newcastle College, later becoming a Lecturer in Singing. She’s taught at SLP Leeds and coached private vocal students. As a backing vocalist for Jane McDonald, she performed on stage, TV, and on record. Sally has performed worldwide with her husband in luxury venues and cruise lines. Passionate about vocal health and technique, she loves helping students find their voice.

  • Daisy Hymers

    Dance, Early Stages, Early Stages Assistant

    Daisy has been part of Stagecoach South Tyneside since it began and has performed… and choreographed at prestigious venues including the Shaftesbury Theatre, Sadler’s Wells, and Disney. Her passion for performing, teaching, and choreography shines through in every class. Daisy loves helping young performers grow in confidence and creativity while sharing the same joy for the stage that she discovered at Stagecoach.

  • Abigail Lawson

    Drama, Further Stages

    Abigail is an actor, director, and facilitator from County Durham who has worked professionally… in the arts since graduating from Newcastle College’s Musical Theatre programme in 2018. Her credits include Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions, The Old Oak (Ken Loach), and The Bench (BBC Look North). Abigail loves being part of Stagecoach South Tyneside and is excited to continue inspiring students every Saturday morning.

  • Rebekah Summerhill

    Dance

    Rebekah is a North East performer with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre… from Edinburgh. She has worked in theatre, pantomime, festivals, and the Edinburgh Fringe, with credits including Hamlet alongside Sir Ian McKellen and the Guilin China Music Festival. With a passion for live performance and inspiring young talent, Rebekah is thrilled to share her experience with the next generation at Stagecoach.
